Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Langan and Shane Baldwin.

Hi Timothy and Shane, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

We Started our company 6 years ago as a way to help improve the environment locally and conserve water. Shane brought 15+ years of experience working in xeriscaping, and Timothy brought extensive administrative and customer service skills to the business as well.

We have been fortunate to have our employees also grow with us as well, our Designer and Project Manager, Alex Vincent started on our crew and attended USU for residential landscape design and construction.

He learned about the USU program while attending a UNLA (Utah Nursery and Landscape Association) green expo with us, and has brought his passion for conservation and design to our clients for many years now.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Although we have been very fortunate to have the support of friends, family, and resources as we started our business, it hasn’t always been easy. The Conservation Garden Park, Jordan Water Conservancy District, and the QWEL (Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper) program have been amazing to partner with, and refer clients to for additional information.

We have learned a lot over the years that has helped us to adopt new & innovative ways to help our clients. Early on, we found providing some education to new clients about what was required for xeriscaping as well as the benefits of making the change helped people considering making the change to implement xeriscape principles on their property but also encouraged them to educate their friends and family as well.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

We are a xeriscape (landscaping) company that handles designs, installations, and maintenance with a focus on low-water and native/drought-tolerant plants. We are one of very few companies in Utah that specializes in this type of landscaping.

One thing that sets us apart from others is the consistent recognition our clients give our crew after an installation is completed about how amazed they are with the implementation of a design in their yard and how it turned out even better than they had imagined/hoped for.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?

We think the landscape industry as a whole will be shifting more towards xeriscape practices to conserve water and provide habitat for pollinators and small wildlife in residential areas in order to create a more balanced existence with the local environment.
