Our Story

About Us

Silver Sage Xeriscape & Design was founded with a passion for creating sustainable, water-efficient landscapes tailored to Salt Lake City’s unique climate.

Committed to conservation and thoughtful design, we help clients transform their outdoor spaces into functional, beautiful environments that thrive with minimal water use.

Working With Us

We work directly with our clients from the initial consultation all the way through to the final project walk through.  During the consultation we will discuss your needs, how you would like to use your space, the installation of water wise & native plantings, as well as hardscape options.  Once we have this information we will create a design and proposal that outlines the construction of your project.

Established in 2017.

Timothy J Langan

Co-Founder

Being born and raised in Utah, Timothy has a deep appreciation for the unique environment along the Wasatch front and throughout the state.  Timothy comes from a big family that taught him the value of community and diversity within that community, encouraging him to explore and learn in all aspects of life.  He attended school at Westminster College and Salt Lake Community College and obtained a degree in business, all while starting & working full time at Silver Sage Xeriscape.

Over the years, Timothy has worked with many local non-profit organizations with focuses on environmental & community causes looking for opportunities both personally and professionally to do more to improve the environment where we live.  Starting Silver Sage Xeriscape & Design was a natural extension of that desire to improve the local environment for the residents along the Wasatch front; and highlight that it is possible to not only conserve water & save time, energy, and money but also have a beautiful and diverse property that allows us to cohabitate with native plants and wildlife.  Timothy’s background in marketing, client relations, and business administration have all helped him to encourage Silver Sage to grow and thrive.

Coming home to the mountains here in Utah after any kind of journey is always a good reminder of just how lucky we are to live here, and how important it is for us to take care of the local environment in the community we call home.   More so now than ever!

Shane Baldwin

Co-Founder

Growing up along the Wasatch Front, Shane was introduced to nature and the outdoors at a young age. Activities like hiking, mountain biking, and skiing in our mountains fostered a sense of contemplation, inspiration, and a deep connection to the natural world and its plant life. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for outdoor recreation and the environment, leading him to co-found the non-profit Wasatch Mountain Arts, host of the annual Wasatch Mountain Film Festival.

With over 20 years of hands-on experience, Shane has honed his expertise in implementing the principles of xeriscaping within the realms of design and construction. His educational background includes a degree in outdoor recreation management from the University of Utah, where he focused on creating interactive outdoor spaces. Furthermore, he is a certified general contractor and a recognized water-efficient landscaper licensee.

Shane’s unique blend of experience, education, and passion for the outdoors makes him a valuable asset in the field of xeriscaping and sustainable landscaping.

Vince Galbroski

Vincent P Gryboski

Landscape Designer

Vince’s interest in architecture and design began when he was learning how to draft architectural plans alongside his father at age 10. His grandmother nurtured his interest in creating a small woodland garden at their family’s cabin, at an even younger age, galvanizing his passion for plants, natural materials and design.

Vince went on to study at the University of Utah’s College of Architecture and Planning, receiving a degree in Urban Ecology. In addition, he obtained another degree in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Land Management & Conservation. Vince continues to grow his skills for developing sustainable human settlements, receiving a Professional Permaculture Design Certificate from Oregon State University and in his freetime he studies passive rainwater harvesting techniques for dryland horticulture.

His expertise at the intersection of architecture and ecology ensures a holistic design approach to your project. He gleans inspiration from the intermountain west’s unique sense of place, local plant communities and the ‘New Perennial Movement’ and Dutch Garden designer Piet Oudolf.

Our Team

The team at Silver Sage Xeriscape & Design is passionate about creating sustainable, water-efficient landscapes. With expertise in design and conservation, we work closely with clients to bring their vision to life while ensuring lasting beauty and functionality.

Rooted in Sustainability, Growing with Purpose

From humble beginnings to a trusted leader in xeriscape design and installation in Salt Lake City, we’ve consistently delivered top-tier service. Committed to conservation, we create beautiful, functional outdoor spaces that stand the test of time.

Our water supply in Utah is dependent upon yearly snowpack and underground aquifers.  The strain on this natural resource along the Wasatch is a growing concern.
